At the 2006 "Sangamo Clock Day" held at the museum. Les McAlister, well known St. Louis collector and Sangamo historian (sangamoclocks.com), hosted the seminar and clock show for former Sangamo Electric employees and local residents interested in Sangamo clocks and their history. 60 - 70 clocks from McAlister's collection were exhibited as well as some unusual/rare clocks brought to the show by local residents. Thanks to my good friend Les for such a professional and informative seminar and also for his willingness to host the first 'outside' exhibit in the new museum. - Farrell Gay
Show are Lori (Gumpert) Pecoraro, her three sons, Phil, Sam, and Alex, Farrel Gay and Judy and Phil Gumpert. Phil Gumpert was one of the three partners along with Farrell Gay and Tom Lange who in 1979 purchased the 14 acre property and buildings once known as THE ILLINOIS WATCH FACTORY. The two square block complex now houses The State of Illinois EPA.
Shown are Phil, Sam, and Alex Pecoraro wearing Illinois wrist watches and standing in front of the original electric letters that once stood on top of the watch factory building.
